This is an excerpt (between 88 and 96%) from the CBS.log from the latest attempt to install updates: ![]() Attempted to install oldest update individually.Rebooted into WInPE and run Bootrec and associated commands.Installed Bitlocker Component (Not enabled).Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations was empty Confirmed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session.Confirmed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\UpdateExeVolatile didn't exist.Disabled Antivirus Scanner (Microsoft Security Essentials).Tried running dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth.Cleared the SoftwareDistribution and re-downloaded the updates.NB: This allowed updates that were also failing to successfully install. Delete WINEVT and restart the computer. ![]() Navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT.I have tried the following fixes to get these updates installed (in no particular order): The updates that are failing are all "Security Only Quality Updates" from 2017-10 through to the most current and "Security Monthly Quality Rollup" * WSUS is working perfectly for all other servers in the environment * Windows 2012 R2 (Running Exchange, and 3 third party applications only) - I believe this was upgraded from Win 2008/2008 R2 before my time. When I restart the server, it goes through to around 90% "Configuring Windows" and then fails and rollsback. The updates install with a status of "Pending Restart". I have been trying to sort this issue for several months now with a more concerted effort in the past few weeks, however nothing I have done has resolved the issue. ![]()
